Amazon Brand Registry: what it unlocks for your listing content
"What Amazon Brand Registry is, what it asks for, and what it unlocks for your listing content: A+ content, Brand Stores, size charts, search reports and priority for your images, with Amazon's figures quoted and sourced."

On this page
Amazon Brand Registry is Amazon's programme for brand owners, which Amazon describes as helping "you protect and grow your brand, even if you don't sell in the Amazon store". To enrol, a brand needs a logo with its brand name permanently on its products or packaging, and a pending or registered trademark from a government office in a country with a matching Amazon store. For listing content, Brand Registry opens A+ content, Brand Stores, size charts, Brand Analytics search reports and priority for the brand owner's images on its product pages.
What is Amazon Brand Registry?
Amazon Brand Registry links a brand to Amazon's catalogue. Once a brand enrols, Amazon treats the enrolled seller as the brand owner for products under the brand: the brand owner's images take priority on its product pages, and the brand owner gets tools to build richer pages and protect them.
Brand Registry is not a selling plan, and it does not replace Amazon's category approval, which is a separate question about what a seller may sell. Brand Registry is the brand layer on top of a seller account. Amazon's Brand Registry page describes enrolment as free; the costs to a brand are the trademark and the time to make the content Brand Registry unlocks.
What are the requirements for Amazon Brand Registry?
Amazon's Brand Registry page lists two basic requirements:
| Requirement | What Amazon asks |
|---|---|
| A logo | A logo that includes the brand name, permanently affixed to the products or packaging |
| A trademark | A pending or registered trademark for the brand name or logo, issued by a government trademark office in a country that has a matching Amazon store |
A pending trademark is enough to apply, so a brand can enrol while its trademark application is still being examined. The logo requirement means the brand name must appear on the product or its packaging, not only in the listing.
Do you need a registered trademark for Brand Registry?
No. Amazon's page accepts a pending or registered trademark. The trademark is the step that takes longest, so start it early:
- File where you sell. The trademark must come from a government office in a country that has a matching Amazon store. A US trademark covers the US store; for Amazon.ca, a Canadian trademark is the matching one.
- Match the brand on the product. The name or logo trademarked is the one that must appear permanently on the products or packaging. A brand name printed only on a swing tag that is removed is not permanently affixed.
- Choose a word mark or a logo. Either can qualify. A word mark protects the name in any style; a logo mark protects the design.
- Keep the records. The filing number and dates are what Brand Registry asks for while a trademark is pending.
Settle the classes and the exact wording when you file, and budget for the cost and timing, which vary by country.
What does Amazon Brand Registry unlock for listings?
Amazon's page names A+ Content, Brand Stores, Sponsored Brands, Brand Analytics, Project Zero and Transparency among the tools Brand Registry opens. The tools that matter most for listing content:
| Tool | What it gives a brand owner | Amazon's figure, where given |
|---|---|---|
| A+ content | A designed section of images, comparison charts and text in place of the plain description | "Basic A+ Content can increase sales by up to 8%", and Premium A+ up to 20%, from Amazon's internal data |
| Brand Stores | A multi-page shop for the brand on Amazon | Store visitors "purchase 53.9% more frequently", with a 71.3% higher average order value, from Amazon's internal data of August 2024 |
| Size charts | Amazon's self-serve size chart tool, with templates, applied to up to 1,000 products at once | None |
| Search reports | Search Query Performance, which "shows the top queries leading customers to your brand"; Top Search Terms; Search Catalog Performance | None |
| Image priority | The brand owner's images used first on its product pages | None |
Amazon's figures for A+ content and Brand Stores are Amazon's claims from its internal data, with no detail on how they were measured, not a forecast for any product. Amazon's SEO guide calls A+ content "free for brands enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry". The guide to Amazon A+ content covers making A+ modules, the guide to size charts covers size charts, and the guide to Amazon SEO covers using the search reports.
Does Amazon Brand Registry improve search ranking?
Amazon does not say that Brand Registry enrolment by itself changes a listing's position in search. Brand Registry gives a brand owner tools, such as A+ content and Search Query Performance, that can make a listing better and help measure it.
What changes on a listing after Brand Registry enrolment?
Brand Registry enrolment does not change a listing by itself; it changes what the brand owner can do:
- Make A+ content for the brand's products, within Amazon's A+ guidelines, which rule out prices, guarantees, competitor comparisons and unproven claims.
- Build a Brand Store, and link to it from the listings.
- Add size charts for products where size matters.
- Watch Search Query Performance to see which searches bring shoppers to the brand.
- Review title recommendations. When Amazon recommends a new title for a brand owner's listing, as it began doing for titles over 75 characters from 27 July 2026, brand owners get 14 days to review it before it takes effect.
- Control the images, as Amazon gives brand owners' images priority.
Which Amazon rules still apply after Brand Registry?
Brand Registry gives tools and relaxes no rules. A+ content still goes through review against Amazon's A+ guidelines. Images with photorealistic AI-generated people still need Amazon's metadata tag, in A+ content as well as product images, under Amazon's notice of 22 July 2026. Every claim on every page still needs to be true. The guide to Amazon's tag for AI-generated people covers the tag.
Can a reseller enrol a brand in Brand Registry?
No. Brand Registry is for the brand owner, the holder of the trademark. A reseller of another brand's products works with the brand owner rather than enrolling the brand.
What should a brand prepare while its trademark is pending?
A pending trademark is enough to apply, so enrolment can be quick, but the content Brand Registry unlocks takes time either way. While the trademark application runs, prepare:
- A+ content for the best sellers: the module plan, the words and the images.
- A Brand Store outline: a home page and a page per range, with the images each needs.
- Size charts from the products' measurements, ready for Amazon's tool.
- A clean set of product images for every product, so the brand's images are complete when they take priority.
With these ready, a brand can publish within days of enrolment rather than starting from nothing.
How do you build a simple Amazon Brand Store?
A simple Amazon Brand Store works well:
- A home page with the brand's main image, one line on what the brand makes, and links to each range.
- A page per range, with each product's main image and a short line on who it suits.
- One look throughout, the same as the brand's A+ content and listing images.
Link to the Brand Store from the A+ content and the Brand Story, so a shopper who likes one product can find the rest.
What mistakes do brands make after enrolling?
- Enrolling and doing nothing. Brand Registry's tools help only when used, so plan the A+ content and the Brand Store before enrolling.
- A+ text copied from the bullets. A+ text must be unique to A+, and Amazon's A+ guidelines rule out reusing listing text.
- A+ claims the guidelines bar, such as prices, guarantees, competitor comparisons and "best seller".
- Ignoring title recommendations. Brand owners get 14 days to review a recommended title before it takes effect; after that the title changes without them.
- Never opening the search reports. Search Query Performance shows what brings shoppers to the brand, which makes it the cheapest market research a brand owner has.
Is Amazon Brand Registry worth it?
For a seller with a brand name on the product, the costs of Brand Registry are a trademark application and the work of making the content; the benefits are the tools above. For a seller of other brands' products, Brand Registry is not available for those brands. The practical question is whether the brand will use what Brand Registry unlocks: A+ content, a Brand Store and good size charts take time to make well.
Brand Registry's content has equivalents on other channels: Walmart, Target and others offer enhanced content too, and a Shopify store is the brand's to design. The guide to listing on several marketplaces covers planning a brand's images and words once and shaping them for each channel.
A first month after Brand Registry enrolment
Week one: the basics. Check that every product under the brand shows the brand's images and content, and review any title recommendations.
Week two: A+ content for the best seller. Plan five modules from the questions in the product's reviews, write the words to the A+ guidelines, and make the images.
Week three: size charts and the Brand Store. Add size charts where they apply, and build a simple Brand Store with a home page and one page per range.
Week four: search reports. Read Search Query Performance for the top products, and compare the queries with the words in the listings.
