The Shein marketplace, Wayfair, Kohl's marketplace and AliExpress each take US sellers on different terms. A Linnworks guide revised on 29 July 2026 relays that Shein's US marketplace asks for a US business with at least $5 million in annual revenue that ships from the US; Wayfair buys from suppliers at a base cost the supplier sets, ships mostly by drop-shipping from the supplier's warehouse, and pays on Net 60 terms; Kohl's opened its marketplace to sellers in all categories in 2023 through marketplace.kohls.com; and AliExpress has taken US sellers since October 2024 through AliExpressLocal Direct and, since March 2025, AliExpressLocal Marketplace. Their image rules differ too, from Shein's 1,340 by 1,785 pixels to Kohl's square images of at least 2,000 pixels, so one set of product facts and photos needs shaping into four listings.

Which of Shein, Wayfair, Kohl's and AliExpress suits a seller?

Each of the four marketplaces suits a different kind of US seller:

MarketplaceSuitsHow the seller is paid or works
Shein marketplaceUS businesses with at least $5 million in annual revenue that ship to customers from US operationsSells to Shein's shoppers; a one-week payment cycle

How do you sell on the Shein marketplace?

A US seller joins the Shein marketplace by applying with a form, and Linnworks' guide, published on 16 April 2026 and revised on 29 July 2026, relays the requirements:

  • Revenue: "Sellers must have a minimum of $5 million in annual revenue."
  • Location: sellers operate in the United States and ship directly to customers from US-based operations.
  • Documents: a Certificate or Articles of Incorporation, the most recent W-9 or W-8BEN-E, a trademark registration certificate, a store logo as a high-quality PNG, and a government ID, front and back, of the company representative.
  • Reply: Shein's team contacts applicants within 1 to 3 business days.
  • Listings: products upload through Shein's API, a solution provider or the Seller Hub.

Shein does not publish its commission and fees openly: they sit in seller terms behind a sign-in. Get the fee schedule from Shein's team before you apply, and price with it in hand.

How do you become a Wayfair supplier?

Wayfair sells home goods bought from suppliers, and its beginner's guide for suppliers sets out the basics:

  • Warehouse: "you'll need a warehouse or third-party logistics partner in North America."
  • Conduct: business practices and products must comply with Wayfair's Supplier Code of Conduct, and some products, such as power tools and medical devices, are excluded.
  • Fulfilment: "Drop-shipping is Wayfair's primary method of fulfillment": Wayfair sends the purchase order to the supplier's warehouse, and the supplier picks, packs and ships to the customer. A supplier who cannot drop-ship can use Wayfair's CastleGate Fulfillment Services.
  • Insurance: a certificate of commercial liability insurance, which any insurance broker can issue once a policy is bound.
  • Products: a full list of products with high-resolution images of at least 1,000 by 1,000 pixels, and a mix of environmental and silo shots.
  • Payment: Wayfair pays on the base cost the supplier sets for each product, with Net 60 standard; Quick Pay pays within 30 days for a 2% fee.

Apply through Wayfair's Apply to Sell form with the business registration number to hand; Wayfair's onboarding team answers questions during onboarding, and the timeline varies.

How do you join Kohl's marketplace?

Kohl's moved its marketplace from pilot to full launch in 2023 and invited more third-party sellers to apply at marketplace.kohls.com, as Value Added Resource reported on 29 March 2023 (updated 7 April 2024). Kohl's application, as reported, asks for:

  • the approximate SKU count
  • whether the applicant is the brand owner
  • whether the business has distribution centres or uses third-party fulfilment
  • whether the business takes unique photos or uses vendor-provided images
  • how the business connects to other marketplaces for product and inventory data

Kohl's does not publish its marketplace fees openly, and the reporting on its application dates from 2023 and 2024. Confirm on marketplace.kohls.com that applications are open, and get the fee terms, before you prepare an application.

How do you become an AliExpress seller in the US?

AliExpress onboarded US sellers for the first time in October 2024 under AliExpressLocal Direct, and added AliExpressLocal Marketplace in March 2025, as Modern Retail reported on 3 April 2025.

AliExpress model for US sellersWhat it offers
AliExpressLocal Direct"More hands-on", with merchandising and marketing assistance from AliExpress
AliExpressLocal MarketplaceFor sellers who need less guidance but want AliExpress's internal tools, such as sales and traffic data

Sellers can move between the two AliExpress models at any point. AliExpress keeps its fees and commission in its seller terms, so take the current figures from AliExpress's seller site before you apply.

How do image rules differ on Shein, Wayfair, Kohl's and AliExpress?

The four marketplaces' image rules, side by side:

MarketplaceSizeMain imageOther rules
Shein1,340 by 1,785 pixels, or square from 900 to 2,200 pixels; 3 MB or less; JPG, JPEG or PNGOne main imageUp to ten detail images
WayfairAt least 1,000 by 1,000 pixels to be featured; 2,000 by 2,000 "will highlight every detail"No white main image ruleA mix of silhouette and room shots recommended
Kohl'sSquare, at least 2,000 pixels a side; JPEG or TIFFOn white, with no added graphicsLifestyle and detail shots welcome after the main view
AliExpressAt least 800 pixels a sideWhite preferredOnly the first six images shown

A square image of 2,000 pixels a side meets Kohl's and Wayfair's sizes and sits inside Shein's square range; Shein's portrait shape of 1,340 by 1,785 needs a separate crop. The article on product image sizes for every marketplace compares these four with Amazon, Walmart, Etsy, eBay, Shopify and Target Plus.

How does one product become four listings?

One set of product facts and photos can feed all four marketplaces, if each listing is shaped for its marketplace rather than copied:

  1. Keep one product record: brand, model, every measurement, materials, colours, sizes, what is in the box, care, origin and warnings.
  2. Photograph once, well: front, angles, details, scale and contents, at a size that survives every crop.
  3. Make each marketplace's images: Kohl's square main image on white without graphics, Wayfair's silhouette and room shots, Shein's portrait crop, and AliExpress's six strongest images first.
  4. Write each marketplace's copy from the same facts, to each marketplace's lengths and fields.
  5. Check the facts match everywhere: a size, an origin or a material that differs between marketplaces is a reason for returns and removals.

The guide to listing on several marketplaces covers keeping one record behind every channel.

What mistakes do sellers make on these four marketplaces?

  • One square image for Shein. Shein's main and detail images are 1,340 by 1,785 pixels or a square no larger than 2,200, at 3 MB or less, so a 3,000-pixel square from another marketplace needs resizing.
  • Graphics on Kohl's main image. Kohl's style guide asks for the main view on white with no added graphics; badges and words belong nowhere on it.
  • Only white silhouettes on Wayfair. Wayfair recommends a mix of silhouette and room shots, so a home product shown only on white misses the room scene Wayfair's shoppers look for.
  • The best AliExpress images last. AliExpress shows only the first six images, so the six that answer a buyer's questions go first.
  • Treating Wayfair's base cost as a retail price. Wayfair sets the retail price from the base cost the supplier sets, so the base cost has to cover the supplier's costs and margin.
  • Applying to Shein below its revenue line. Shein's minimum is $5 million in annual revenue.

What should a seller check before applying to any of the four?

  • Eligibility: Shein's $5 million revenue line, Wayfair's North American warehouse or 3PL, and Kohl's and AliExpress's current application status.
  • Fees and payment terms: Wayfair's base cost and Net 60 are published; ask Shein, Kohl's and AliExpress for theirs.
  • Fulfilment: drop-shipping or CastleGate for Wayfair, US-based shipping for Shein.
  • Documents: incorporation papers, tax forms, a trademark certificate and insurance, as each asks.
  • Product data: SKU counts, images and how the business connects to marketplaces, which Kohl's application asks about.
